Check your National Insurance record online

You can check your National Insurance record online to see:

- what you’ve paid, up to the start of the current tax year (6 April 2016)

- any National Insurance credits you’ve received- if gaps in contributions or credits mean some years don’t count towards your State Pension (they aren’t ‘qualifying years’)

- if you can pay voluntary contributions to fill any gaps and how much this will cost

Your online record doesn’t cover how much State Pension you’re likely to get.

Imail INtouch - Launching 1st April 2017

The new contract with Neopost will mean Britain’s Armed Forces will continue to receive hard copy, secure mail, including photos, from their loved ones, for free and with no break in service as the new imail INtouch system takes over from the e-bluey on 1 April 2017. The new contract with Neopost will mean Britain’s Armed Forces will continue to receive hard copy, secure mail, including photos, from their loved ones, for free and with no break in service as the new imail INtouch system takes over from the e-bluey on 1 April 2017.

The new imail INtouch system will allow users to send up to eight pages, including high definition photographs and official documents. The old e-bluey system that is being replaced only allowed single pages to be sent and did not support high definition photographs.

The MOD is committed to the welfare of its people and enshrined the Armed Forces Covenant in law, a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. Replacing the ageing e-bluey service is recognition of the fact that, to provide the best possible communication system for service personnel overseas, we must take advantage of the latest technology. This is why the funding for e-bluey is being redirected to imail INtouch and development of cutting-edge communications solution.

TripAble - Finding Accessible Hotels

TripAble finds the perfect travel destinations for jet setters with specific accessibility needs.
No matter what your disability, TripAble will help you travel the world.

The easiest way to describe it is TripAdvisor for the physically disabled; allows anyone to rate a hotel across six main categories:

•             Hotel Access
•             Room Usability
•             Toilet Facilities
•             Washing Facilities
•             Hotel Facilities
•             Fire Exit

Each area can be rated from one to five, an increasing scale of accessible adaptions available, starting with one being "no additional considerations for disabled persons", this should allow the website to be useful for people with a wide range of mobility issues (from walking stick to electric wheelchair and carer). Each rating has a brief description to allow you to understand the accessible needs needing to be met, and we always welcome feedback on these to improve the website.

There is also space to add a personal review of the hotel, should you wish to write as well.  There are currently 300,000 hotels listed worldwide, so whilst we do not have every hotel we cover most destinations.

The aim is simple, to give people the ability to find appropriately accessible accommodation.

As this is a new service we currently need to get reviews of hotels people have stayed in, as these reviews will guide others.

Evolution Forces Families - The Importance of Making a Will

As morbid as it is, making a Will is important, whether you have children and a spouse or not, as it dictates who is entitled to your estate when you pass away. It is particularly important for Forces families, given the nature of the job.

The MOD offers a free basic Will service, the MOD106 Will, to its serving members prior to deployment, however it is just as important for their spouses too.

There are also many limitations on this service that you should be aware of, which you can read about on our previous blog; ‘Wills for Military Personnel’.

Along with on-the-job training and experience, CWA’s can also ensure that employers and employees are well matched, prior to any commitments being made by either party.
