Calories in Alcohol

Did you know a standard glass of wine can contain as many calories as a piece of chocolate, and a pint of lager has about the same calorie count as a packet of crisps?

The average wine drinker in England takes in around 2,000kcal from alcohol every month.

Drinking five pints of lager a week adds up to 44,200kcal over a year, equivalent to eating 221 doughnuts.

You can find out the calories in many more drinks using the Drinkaware unit and calorie calculator.

Keeping cool and sun protection:   Make sure your pet has access to cool, shady areas in your house or backyard. Always make sure your pet has access to lots of cool drinking water. If you’re going out for the day, try dropping a few ice blocks into their water bottle or bowl, so that the water stays colder for longer.

Stand Up to Bullying Day - Wednesday 21st June

#StandUpToBullying day is on Wednesday 21st June

Bullying is an issue which affects people from all walks of life and can happen at any point.

Research confirms the long-lasting and damaging outcomes for the individual being bullied including prolonged absenteeism from school and negative consequences on physical and mental health even at the age of 50.

Bullying isn’t confined to the school gates and its victims aren’t limited to young people. It also exists at home and in our wider communities; in boardrooms, and lunchrooms, on highstreets, stadiums and pubs.

And of course, bullying exists online: the result can be a constant, and unrelenting attack.

We all have a role to play in tackling and preventing bullying.

Lets #StandUpToBullying together!
