2016 UK 'Last 'Round Pound'

Did you know that the £1 coin is about to disappear from your change? During next year, the traditional round £1 coin will be replaced by a new ultra secure 12-sided coin, marking the end of an era for UK coinage.

To bid a fond farewell to the Round £1 Coin, The Royal Mint has issued one final design. Only issued in 2016, it will not even enter normal circulation, so you'll never find one in your change.

The Royal Mint is offering a unique opportunity to own the last ever Round £1 Coin before it disappears forever.  For further details, or to buy your collector's item CLICK HERE

GCSE Grades are Changing

GCSEs in England are being reformed and will be graded with a new scale from 9 to 1, with 9 being the highest grade.

English Literature, English Language and Maths will be the first subjects to be graded in this way from August 2017. Students will therefore receive a mixture of letter and number grades in summer 2017.
Find out more about how the numbered grades compare to the current A* to G system.

Fraudulent E-mails Claiming to be from Lloyds Bank

Lloyds customers should be on the lookout for a new sophisticated fraud that involves fraudsters sending fake bank letters.

The convincing letters being sent are a replica template from Lloyds and include their logo, address and signature from a customer service representative.

The letter tells recipients that there have been some “unusual transactions” on their personal account and asks them to call a number highlighted in bold to confirm they are genuine.

When victims call the number, an automated welcome message is played and the caller is asked to enter their card number, account number and sort code followed by their date of birth. Victims are then instructed to enter the first and last digit of their security number.

Chartered Management Institute signs the Armed Forces Covenant

Service Families Benefit from CMI Membership

The Chartered Management Institute has pledged to support Service spouses and partners in gaining the leadership qualifications to help them further their career.

Ensuring that Service spouses and partners are not disadvantaged in finding and staying in employment due to service life is a key part of the Armed Force Covenant, which states that:
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has sought to uphold this promise by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. In their pledges, the CMI support Service spouses and civil partners through their MOD Family Membership Scheme, which provides access to Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching qualifications, helping Service spouses to gain the key skills and professional recognition which can help Service family members to find employment. The Scheme is also available free to children of Service personnel (aged 16-18) and allows them to become a Campus CMI Affiliate with access to all the benefits of online resources, including study support.

TV Licence: Armed Forces Personnel

Find out how to check if you need a TV Licence when you’re on base, what it covers and how much it costs.

A TV Licence is not included in your monthly food and accommodation charges. In Ministry of Defence (MOD) living accommodation, on or off base, you need to be covered by a TV Licence if you watch or record programmes as they’re being shown on TV – on any device. That includes TVs, computers, tablets, mobile phones, games consoles, digital boxes and DVD/VHS recorders.

It’s your responsibility to check if you need a TV Licence and buy one if you do. The Ministry of Defence fully supports us in applying the law regarding TV Licensing. If we find evidence you’re watching TV illegally, you risk prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.

A TV Licence costs £145.50. You can spread the cost with a Direct Debit or pay in one go
